AVANTI AT380 TREADMILL REVIEW

Avanti AT 380

For years now, Avanti fitness has been providing Australians with some of the highest quality and best value fitness equipment available. Specialising mainly in treadmills and strength equipment, you know that if you buy an Avanti product, you’re buying a peace of mind, quality and reliability.
The Avanti AT380 treadmill was launched in Australia in 2005 and it wasn’t long before it became one of the biggest sellers.

What sets the AT380 from any other treadmill is the revolutionary suspension system that significantly reduces the impact generated stress to the knees, lower back and ankles.
Many treadmills on the market will have some sort of suspension in the running deck, however after testing a boat load of treadmills, we can honestly report that the AT series by Avanti is by far the leader in cushioned deck technology. The machine is compact, folding into a vertical position with a footprint of 810mm x 760mm yet still as sturdy as your larger corporate machines.
Every aspect of the Avanti AT380 oozes quality and style. From the tight feel of the swung deck, to the cleverly laid out console, the AT380 is truly a leader in the $1800 -$2200 treadmill price point.
Quality 2 HP continuous duty motor ensures reduced noise and in fact making this one of the quietest machines on the market.

While testing machines, we took notice in the different qualities of motors used in various treadmills. We have found that there is a vast difference in power output, feel and noise of the motors. For example, you can have 2 machines with same power motors, one can feel powerful yet be very quiet, and other can lag in strength and be overly noisy. The Avanti AT380 no doubt uses a high quality motor as it feels top notch.

The Suspension System:

Avanti’s AT Series, revolves around its revolutionary Impact Down suspension system, a cushioned deck technology that reduces stress to all of the body’s vital structural support systems. The knee is designed to disperse shock of running before the shock reaches lover back and spine. This is why quality suspension is vital.
The AT380’s Impact Down suspension system is really a dual suspension. This means that there are 2 independent systems working together to provide the smooth comfortable run that can be achieved on the AT380. The first is a durable spring system that can be locked out to make it a little firmer. The second is a series of evenly laid out shock absorbers made of industrial strength rubber, separating the main running deck from the rest of the frame. These shock absorbers not only contribute to the overall softness of the cushioning system, but also reduce the secondary shock wave to the calf, hamstring and quadriceps generated by the 2 stages of foot planting in a run. Normally the first shock occurs when the foot strikes the running surface, and then a smaller shock is generated when the foot leaves the running surface.
Many manufacturers have tried to replicate this unique suspension system on current machines available in the Australian market, but unfortunately they all have failed to deliver the comfort, stability and shock reduction that is found on the AT Series of machines.

The Frame:

A fundamental part to any structure is its skeleton. In the case of a treadmill, it is the frame that supports the running deck and the console. While a less talked about aspect of any machine, it plays a vital role in the stability of the treadmill. Stability does not necessarily mean that the “lack of” would result in the treadmill tipping over in any way, but Stability in the machine means overall quality feel. A treadmill with a sturdy frame tends to feel nice and heavy while reducing the shaking of the console.
Avanti AT380 Folds to a full 90 degree with the use of quality gas struts, that allows the user to lift the deck with ease, and drop it softly when ready to be used.

Console and Functions:

The AT380 uses a 5 window Dot-Matrix display monitor which includes a 400M running track, usually used as a motivational tool for runners. Like all aspects of the AT380, the programs are also unique. Traditionally treadmills use either speed or incline programming, meaning for an incline program, the user must select a desired speed/pace and the program will control the incline up and down. Alternatively if the user wants a speed program, they must select the desired incline level and allow the machine to carry out its speed intervals. The Avanti AT380 combines both speed and incline to simultaneously deliver the most effective workouts. Users also have the ability to custom design their own programs from scratch.

Electronics:

The Avanti AT Series of treadmills is protected by a fused entry circuitry avoiding the possible malfunction of electronic components due to fluctuating currents in the households electricity supply. This means that the treadmills electronic components are protected by a circuit breaker of their own. This is a great feature that gives the user a peace of mind.

Final Word

Avanti AT380 treadmill is a top notch quality engineered machine packed with features previously only available on premium branded fitness equipment. Avanti AT380 is by far the best valued machine in the $1800 -$2200 treadmill price point. The AT380 is one of those treadmills that you just have to take it for a run to believe the level of comfort achieved by its design.
If you are over 6 feet tall and would like something with a bigger running surface, the Avanti AT 480, 580 or 680 would be more suitable for you.

My husband bought this treadmill for my birthday 8 months ago. Its fantastic and I would highly recommend it to everyone. It does weigh a bit though he he. We struggled a bit getting it out of the station wagon and getting it into the house. It is a really nice, smooth, quiet and comfortable runner AAA+++ :-)
