Well it’s been almost a year since we’ve posted any previews and we are very excited to be able to present the next in line of the AT series of treadmills by Avanti Fitness. The Avanti AT580, high performance treadmill.

The Avanti AT580 is an extra large machine with a visibly chunky frame that is suitable for jogging or high performance fitness training. What makes this machine so attractive to people with limited space is the fact that it still folds to a tiny footprint of 840mm x 830mm. This is truly an attractive feature as it allows users to own a gym quality, high performance treadmill that can be folded away to a space of a small exercise bike!

The Suspension System

The Avanti AT580 treadmill is supported by Avanti’s own Impact Down™ suspension system. This revolutionary shock absorption system is described in more depth in the AT380 and AT480 previews. One notable thing to mention about the suspension performance on the AT580 is the fact that it works just as good on this monster of a machine as it does on the much smaller AT380. This is quite surprising considering the much thicker frame of the AT580.

The Frame

At the first glance, you can visibly see that the AT580 is a large treadmill supported by an extra thick frame. The deck frame that is cleverly suspended from the base frame using industrial suspension springs measures 80mm in thickness. This is about 40% thicker than the frame of the AT480 and AT380 siblings. This is what gives the AT580 the sturdiness, while still being one of the most comfortable treadmills on the market today.

Console and functions

The Avanti AT580 treadmills feature a next generation flip-top console. A design that is inspired by the laptop, allowing users to close the console when not in use. On the upper part of the console is featured a large commercial grade 24x8 LED dot matrix display scrolling machine to user messages and displaying terrain and program patterns.

Around the large dot matrix window are 6 separate readout windows feeding vital data such as calories burned, distance, incline, time, heart rate and many others.

The lower part of the console houses the control buttons including “Quick speed and Incline” Buttons.

Probably the handiest feature of the flip top console is the fact that the display can be angled according to the user’s height. This means that whether you’re 5 foot or 7 foot tall, you will not need to strain to see the console readouts. You simply angle the display to be in the exact position you need it to be. The AT580 treadmills features the same array of programs and control features as the rest of the AT family. This includes custom programming for long, tricky and challenging routes that can be used for elite athletes to practice and improve on their overall race times.

The Electronics

As with all the AT series treadmills, the AT580 was designed with safety in mind. The circuitry of the machine is protected with a beaker fuse guarding the inner components of the treadmill.

The AT 580 features a massive 3Hp continuous duty motor. Able to output power of much larger commercial machines, the motor is whisper quiet and features one of the largest balance drive bands available on DC electric motors.

Final Word

The AT580 treadmill has earned a badge of honour with us and can be easily considered to be a premium treadmill. With a price tag of between $3000 and $3500, The AT580 is a well worth the money spent. It is a machine that can be used for elite training, extreme fitness and weight loss. Cleverly designed to accommodate users of all sizes, owning an AT580 is like having the privilege of owning your own commercial treadmill that packs away to very compact space of less than 1m x1m when not in use.
